Why we made this vanilla scented candle

Calle Real is Iloilo City's grand old street — the stretch of Iznart and J.M. Basa where the art-deco facades still stand and everything smells faintly of roasted peanuts, old wood, and afternoon sun. This vanilla scented candle is our love letter to it.

The vanilla here isn't birthday-cake sweet. It's folded into tobacco leaf and warm amber, the way vanilla smells in a panaderia at closing time — rounded, a little smoky, grown-up. It reads as cozy in the evening and quietly elegant with the lights on.

Light it in the sala when guests are coming, or at your desk when the afternoon drags. It's our bestseller for a reason: everybody has a memory that smells like this.

How to burn your vanilla candle right

Vanilla-amber blends are bottom-heavy: the scent builds through the first hour and peaks in the second, so give Calle Real time instead of judging it in fifteen minutes. On the first light, let the melt pool reach the jar's edge — about two hours — and it will never tunnel. Trim the wick to 5 mm each burn and the full 40–45 hours is yours; the whole routine is in Candle Care 101.
