The Scent
Why we made this sampaguita candle
Sampaguita garlands sold outside Sunday mass, still damp from the seller's basin — that's the exact memory in this jar. Our sampaguita candle treats the national flower with a light hand.
White florals can turn heavy and soapy fast, so we steep the sampaguita in white tea. The result is soft, clean, and unhurried — closer to a breeze through a screen door than a perfume counter.
This is our calm-down candle. Bedrooms, prayer corners, long baths, slow Sunday mornings: anywhere the goal is a quieter head.
Keeping a floral candle soft, not soapy
Delicate florals turn loud and soapy when the flame runs tall — exactly what an untrimmed wick produces. Keep Sampaguita Sunday's wick at 5 mm and the throw stays the way we blended it: soft, clean, background. It's sized for bedroom-scale rooms; in a big open sala it will read subtle, which is the point. Full first burn to the jar's edge prevents tunneling — the details are in Candle Care 101 — and the jar comes back to us for ₱20 off, or becomes the bathroom glass it was born to be.
Questions
Sampaguita Sunday sampaguita candle: FAQ
Does a sampaguita candle smell heavy?
Not this one. Sampaguita can be heady, so we soften it with white tea. It comes across clean and light, more garland than perfume.
Where should I burn a floral candle?
Bedrooms, bathrooms and prayer corners: anywhere you want a calm, clean feeling. It's a gentle choice for mornings.
Is Sampaguita Sunday a good gift for older relatives?
It's the pick for Mom and Lola in our gift guide. Sampaguita is familiar and comforting, and the white tea keeps it from overwhelming a small room.
